From Robin Sharma...
1. GET OUT AND EXPLORE:
Extracurricular activities are not a waste of time. The best leaders are interesting people. They pursue passions. They love art. They experience unforgettable travel. And they engage in conversations with fascinating people. This allows them to stay inspired. And hungry. And offers them a steady stream of ideas that actually makes their businesses more successful.
2. LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE WITH THE DIRTIEST HANDS:
Want to know what your customers love - and can't stand - about your business? Listen to the people on the front line. The grocery clerk hears exactly what's being said about the products on the shelves. The person answering the phone knows what people are most dissatisfied with. The technician gets exactly what needs to be fixed for the brand to grow. Learn to listen to the people who are closest to your customers. The data they carry is priceless.
3. YOU ARE PAID NOT ONLY TO WORK. YOU ARE PAID TO BE SCARED:
It's easy to do what you do every day until it becomes second nature. But what leadership's truly about is having the courage to out-think + out- perform who you were yesterday. And that's scary. Because you need to consistently do what's uncomfortable. But all growth lies on the outer edges of your comfort zone. Commit to not just doing your work but accepting the challenges that frighten you.
4. HEALTH IS YOUR WEALTH:
These were peak-performing CEOs leading 24/7 careers. There was utter silence in the room when I shared this statement: "Health is the crown on the well man's head that only the ill person can see". Why be the richest person in the graveyard? And what's the point of getting to the mountaintop but reaching it sick? Get serious about becoming superfit. Then watch the caliber of your work and the quality of your life fly.
5. FAMILY FIRST:
With children, we have a little window of opportunity. And once it closes, it's very hard to open it up again. Having a strong family foundation of deep relationships with those you love makes you a more effective businessperson. And who wants to get to the end of your career and realize you're all alone?
6. BE VALUABLE:
Business, to me, is nothing more than a breathtakingly great vehicle to deliver unusual value to as many people as possible. Want to double your sales? Then double the value you bring to your customers. And the whole game of life's about much of the same thing: contribution. Being of value. Making a difference. No one on their deathbed wished they had made more money. Most of us do wish we have had a greater impact. As a seminar participant in Qatar shared with me: "The measure of the greatness of a person is the length their shadow casts on the future."
Why do I share the 6 challenges I offered to the CEO crowd with you? Because you are the CEO of your own career and the Leader of your own life. I encourage - and challenge - you to reflect on these ideas and then to act on them with speed. There's never been a bigger need for leaders in our organizations and within our world. And whether you have a title or not, that need applies to you.
Wishing you Health, Happiness and Success!

10 Reasons to Be In Business For Yourself
-Adapted from an article by Josh Cope-
Today I was thinking about all the benefits you’ll experience when you build your business to the level where you can go fulltime. Now I know that the idea of being able to fire your boss and live the lifestyle of your dreams can seem far off sometimes, but I assure you that it can be just around the corner - even in as little as 90 days!
So check out this list I put together this morning and get excited! Because this can be YOUR list as soon as you commit yourself to success!
1. Money. Of course it topped my list, but not because owning your own business is all about making tons of money (even though you will). It’s because when you own your own business YOU get to decide what to do with your money. YOU decide where to put the profits… preferably into your own pocket! So it gives you an overall total satisfaction that you are in complete control of your life, your lifestyle, and your future. Because as you may be discovering, in today’s current economy the idea of having job security is a total myth. But if you own your own business and control the money you have the ultimate in security!
2. No More Pink Slips. This kind of goes with #1, but when you own your own business you can’t be fired or laid off. All too often I’ve heard stories of people working at a company for many years, only to come in one day and find that their position is being eliminated due to cut backs… or others are just plain laid off. But when you own your own business you can rest assured that you’re working towards a goal that’s not just going to disappear overnight.
3. A Big Fat Lack Of Commute. When you own your own business, you get to enjoy the awesome “8 second commute” where you just walk upstairs to your home office and go to work! And when you’re done, you don’t have to face a 30 minute commute through snarled rush-hour traffic!
4. You Decide. You decide how your business grows, and in what direction. It’s all up to you! You don’t have to grit your teeth and wonder why the “Powers That Be” are putting so much of the budget into THIS area… or making you complete tasks that make no sense to you at all. YOU decide what’s the best use of the budget AND your time!
5. Go! Want to take that dream vacation? Want to take a random summer day off and lounge by the pool? Do it! When you own your own business you can do anything you want any time you want! No begging your boss for a day off months in advance, just reschedule your workday and takeoff!
6. Wow Factor. Sure, some people are going to get more enjoyment out of this than others, but telling other people that you own your own business can be pretty cool. Your friends will envy you, and people will always be jealous of the lifestyle you’re able to lead.
7. Good Food. No more having to eat unhealthy fast food, or choke down a 4-hour old sandwich that you brought to work with you. Since you work from home, you’ve got the ability to eat healthy, great food that’s 10 seconds away in your refrigerator!
8. Parenting Stuff. You can now take your kids to and from school and attend PTA meetings and 3pm plays. Or even take a summer afternoon off and take them to the pool. These little slices of family time are some of the most important, especially to your kids. And when you own your own business you can be sure you’ll never miss another second!
9. No More Drama. You don’t have to suck it up and weakly smile at the guy across the hall who you know is horrible at his job, or put up with the woman who whines all the time about how hard she has it. And best of all, no more sucking up to “the boss”!
10. Attire. When you own your own business, you get to wear whatever you want. Want to go to work in your pajamas? Go for it! Want to wear a t-shirt and gym shorts? Do it!
And that’s only a few that I came up with… if I had to list all the things I love about having my own home business, we’d be here for decades!
The bottom line is that in my opinion, there is nothing more rewarding, more satisfying, and more fun than being fulltime in your own home business. I’ve never met a single person who regrets being fulltime in their business, but I can name TONS of people who absolutely HATE their job.
Wishing you all the best as you pursue your dreams!

Faces of some local CEO Moms!

Back Row: Charlotte, Alexandria, Jill, Christy, Kelly
Front Row: Timeka, Jerri, Erin
January, 2011On Saturday, January 8th, women from our local CEO Moms Team came together for some great Business training at sites all over the US/Canada. These are some of our local CEO Moms, who attended the launch in Charlotte, NC. It was so great to be able to meet these ladies face to face.
Our Team is made up of women all over the US and Canada, and we certainly feel like we know each other, as we work so closely via the internet, but this was really fun to hang out together for the day in person.
Our Company grew by 60 million dollars last year. Isn't that awesome? In the midst of these tough economic times, it gives me such peace to be a part of such a strong, forward moving and "earth friendly" company.
Looking forward to an amazing 2011!!!
Blessings,
Jill

Christmas....Same Time This Year!
It happens every year. I take calls on my radio show from people who forget that Christmas happens in December. There’s no excuse for treating Christmas like an emergency, and I just reminded you, so you can’t say you forgot. With a little planning you can have the best Christmas and New Year’s you’ve ever had.
Most Americans treat Christmas like it’s an emergency and resort to credit cards to pay for gifts. Then, they wait in dread for the bills to come in January. This ruins both Christmas and New Year’s, and it doesn’t have to be this way.
Don’t let it sneak up on you. Start planning as soon as possible by putting aside money each month to cover the cost of your gifts. There’s not a magic number for how much to save. If you want to give a lot, then, you have to save a lot. Think about how much you want to spend, divide that by the amount of time you have left, and that’s how much you need to save each pay period.
Make a list of everyone you are buying gifts for, and put a dollar amount to every name. Then, total it at the bottom. This is your Christmas budget. The people in the mall and specialty stores have a plan to get your money at this time of year. So, you need a game plan for your shopping so you won’t overspend. There’s no excuse for financing Christmas!
Put the total amount of cash from your budget in an envelope, and when the cash is gone, you stop spending. It’s as simple as that. This will help keep you on budget, because if you overspend on Aunt Sue it means Uncle Harry won’t get a gift. Just stick to the plan, and make sure no one gets left out.
Don’t buy yourself a gift, either! This is the season to give, not to receive … from yourself. I know you think you’re getting great bargains, but it’s not about you. Resist the temptation, or plan ahead and put yourself on your Christmas budget. It’s okay if you’re a little short on money. Stick to the cash only plan, anyway.
Let’s rediscover the meaning of Christmas. It’s more than decorations, the mall, the big dinner, over the top gifts … those are the optional things we do to celebrate Christmas. Make gifts, give low-cost gifts, or you could even hand out gift certificates promising your time.
If you get control of your finances, and stick to your budget now, you’ll be able to give much more in years to come!
